My American dream

This blog is initially dedicated to my new book, "My American Dream"
Here is a short synopsis-

What would you do if you get caught up with the wrong inmates and most aggressive jail guards, before realising that you could have avoided going to jail in the first place? Upon a decision made by her well respected father, a nine year old girl from a third world country left the comfort of her parents’ home to study in America. Little did she know that her departure would not only result in a shameful return that tore her family apart but that it would leave her an unforgettable sweet and yet sour taste.

In My American Dream, the love for her family was what kept her strong but that same love was also what caused her downfall. Funkè Ojo bid farewell to her country in hope to return as a doctor someday. However the careless games of two important people in her life led to Funkè’s misfortune; she ended up in jail for a crime that she never thought could even be considered a crime! Furthermore everyone, including the judge in charge of her case believed that she had done more than confessed.
While in jail, she was treated like a criminal. However in the same jail was where her life adventure began. She met the most interesting as well as dangerous inmates, and almost got entangled in a lesbian triangle relationship. Her sweetheart whom she met via an online forum at age twenty-three found himself helpless, especially because Funkè was arrested just a couple of weeks after their wedding.
Furthermore, she needed to find out how the generally applauded African heritage of family care and support failed her. During her jail time, she wondered how she could ever get over her anger with her family and above all, God. After losing her faith in that period, she was forced to come back to God in the most unexpected way. Find out more about Funkè's adventure and what the key to her freedom was.
Keep tuned in on my blog to read extracts of the book.

"My American dream" comes out in July 2013.
